Mr. Nguyen Van Ha – lychee farmer in Tan Yen district (Bac Giang), said that early ripening litchi has been harvested for nearly a week now and has been sold on the market. In addition to the “granary” of lychee in Bac Giang, Hai Duong province also has an area of delicious Thanh Ha lychee which is famous at home and abroad. The production of lychee in Hai Duong province is estimated at over 60,000 tons, mainly in Thanh Ha district.
According to Thanh Ha District People’s Committee, in addition to the domestic market, Thanh Ha lychee is exported to many markets such as Japan, the US, Australia, the UK, and China.
Currently, lychee is also grown in many northern provinces and gives quite good quality.

According to the Department of Industry and Trade of Bac Giang province, in 2023, in addition to 84,000 tons of lychee being consumed in the domestic market (accounting for 46.7% of total output, down 15.2% compared to 2022), Bac Giang province also actively planned to consume 96,000 tons for export to other countries (accounting for about 53.3% of total output, up 15.2% compared to 2022).
The export market focuses mainly on the traditional market of China and other countries and regions such as Europe (EU), the US, Australia, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Laos, Cambodia and some other countries. According to Mr. Hoang Trung, currently, the US and Australia are the two markets that require lychees to be treated by irradiation. The Australian market has many advantages, when the irradiation and packaging of fabrics is done right at the Hanoi Irradiation Center. Currently, the US market only accepts 2 facilities in Ho Chi Minh City and Long An that are eligible for irradiation and packaging.
To support lychee growers, the Plant Protection Department worked with APHIS, Global Food Import-Export Joint Stock Company and Hanoi Irradiation Center to install and add additional equipment for this facility to be recognized. get qualified for irradiation, pack lychees for export to the US. It is expected that around the end of May 2023, the set of equipment to control the irradiation line at the request of the US will be shipped to Vietnam.
For the Chinese market, in 2023, export consumption is expected to increase compared to 2022.
For the Japanese market, this year, Japan has returned to the form of sending experts to Vietnam to directly supervise export lychees. This also supports the export of fabrics to this market more conveniently and effectively.
